Philip's practice focuses on three key areas: representing Chinese investors on their outbound investments; representing global financial investors on their investments in Asia, particularly China; and advising on matters involving Hong Kong-listed companies.
Educated, qualified and having practised law in both China and the UK, Philip is equally comfortable with both legal systems and can understand and bridge the differences between the two across a wide range of corporate transactions.
Philip speaks Mandarin, Shanghainese and English.

- Advised funds advised by global investment firm Permira on its acquisition of a 50 per cent interest in Grobest, a pan-Asia aquatic feed business headquartered in Taiwan with operations in Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, China, India, Indonesia, Philippines, and Malaysia.
- Advised EQT Mid Market Asia III fund on its acquisition of a 40% stake in Artwall, a leading wallpaper designer, manufacturer and retailer in China.
- Advised Pearson PLC on its disposal of Wall Street English to a consortium led by CITIC Capital and Baring Private Equity Asia.

- Advised China Telecommunications Corporation on its participation of the bid for the Philippines’ third major telecommunications player license.
- Advised Fosun Gold on its £256m all-cash offer for Gemfields, a world-leading supplier of responsibly sourced coloured gemstones listed on AIM.
- Advised China Cinda on its HK$68 billion acquisition of Nanyang Commercial Bank from Bank of China HK.
- Advised China Minsheng Investment on its investment in Luxaviation.
Recent work involving Hong-Kong listed companies:
- Advised China Shanshui Cement on its restoration of public float and resumption of trading on Hong Kong Stock Exchange after 3 years’ trading suspension.
- Advised CITIC on the US$4.8bn sale of its residential property assets in China to China Overseas in exchange for 10 per cent of the entire issued share capital of China Overseas and certain assets owned by China Overseas.
