Freshfields advises a consortium comprising APG, NPS and Swiss Life Asset Managers on the acquisition of a majority interest in Brisa

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP (‘Freshfields’) has advised a consortium comprising APG Asset Management N.V. (‘APG’), the National Pension Service of the Republic of Korea (‘NPS’) and Swiss Life Asset Managers (‘Swiss Life AM’) on their agreement to acquire directly or indirectly an 81.1 per cent majority interest in Brisa – Auto-Estradas de Portugal, S.A. (‘Brisa’), the European toll road concessionaire, from José de Mello - Investimentos, SGPS, S.A. and Arcus European Infrastructure Fund 1 LP, managed by Arcus European Investment Manager LLP. The transaction values the equity of Brisa at more than €3bn.
Brisa is a leading European toll road platform with a network of over 1,500km covering the fundamental axis of the Portuguese road system.
 
The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2020, subject to regulatory approvals.
