About

Andreas is a partner specialising in the financing of energy, infrastructure, resources and other real assets.

He advises private debt funds, banks and financial sponsors on complex financing transactions across the infrastructure, energy, resources, and real estate sectors, with a specific geographical focus on Europe, Australia and the MENA region.

With more than fifteen years of experience in debt financings and project developments, Andreas has extensive expertise across a broad range of financing products, including infrastructure finance, acquisition financings, HoldCo financings, portfolio financings, minority stake financings, international project finance, export credit finance, pref-equity structures, real estate finance, secured corporate lending transactions, and restructurings.

Andreas supports clients throughout the entire life cycle of energy, infrastructure, and resources assets – from origination to restructuring. His expertise includes advising on commercial contracts for the development of such projects, including power purchase agreements and construction contracts.

Alongside his practice, Andreas lectures on ESG developments at the Institute of Law and Finance, Goethe University Frankfurt, and serves as Chair of IPFA Continental Europe: Germany. He was recognised as an Energy Lawyer of the Year 2025 by Handelsblatt - Best Lawyers.

Infrastructure Finance

  • CVC-DIF on the acquisition financing of European aviation ground service lessors in Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium;
  • Macquarie Capital Finance on the EUR 320 million infrastructure acquisition financing of Therme Erding;
  • An international private debt fund on the refinancing of a portfolio of infrastructure assets;
  • A financial sponsor on the financing of the acquisition and finance due diligence of a leading German biomethane producer;*
  • An infrastructure investor on the financing of the acquisition of glas fibre business;* and
  • The MLAs on the EUR 2.15 billion financing of GlasfaserPlus, a joint venture of Deutsche Telekom and IFM.*

Energy – Offshore Wind

  • RWE on its divestments of the Danish offshore wind farm “Thor” and the German offshore wind farms “Nordseecluster”;
  • Skyborn Renewables, a leading offshore wind developer and operator, on a revolving credit facility with Banco Santander;
  • A German utility on the divestment and stapled HoldCo financing for an offshore wind park in the North Sea;* and
  • International banks and institutional debt providers on a number of HoldCo financings (loans and private placements) in relation to offshore wind farm projects or grid infrastructure in the North and Baltic Seas.

Energy – Clean Energy & Energy Transition

  • A German developer on the HoldCo portfolio financing of solar projects, BESS, and substations;
  • AXA IM Alts, a global leader in alternative investments, on its acquisition of a majority stake in ILOS Projects GmbH;
  • An infra debt fund on the structuring of a development financing for a global pipeline of renewable energy assets;
  • The sponsor on the project financing of a land-based LNG terminal in Germany;*
  • International financial institutions on the project financings of onshore wind parks in Germany, Sweden, Finland, Norway, Greece, Lithuania, Ireland, Canada, and Uruguay, as well as solar projects in Europe; and
  • An international financial institution on the due diligence, purchase, and transfer of a pan-European loan portfolio of KfW-refinanced renewable energy projects.*

Export Credit Finance

  • An international lending consortium (including ING Bank, Deutsche Bank, UniCredit Bank, Natixis, and BNP Paribas) on the SACE and OeKB-covered EUR 1.7 billion green steel financing for Saarstahl Group’s “Power4Steel” project – one of the largest steel decarbonisation projects in Europe;
  • Commerzbank and an international lending group on the EUR 800 million JBIC-covered financing by United Internet for the construction of its 5G network in Germany;
  • EDF on the EUR 5 billion bpifrance-covered credit facility for the construction of the Hinkley nuclear power plant in the United Kingdom;

  • A real estate investor on the acquisition financing of a joint venture interest in a logistics portfolio in Germany and Austria;
  • A German developer on the financial restructuring of development financing for a real estate asset in Germany;
  • An international lender on the acquisition financing for two hotels in Germany purchased by an international hotel group; and
  • A German sponsor on the development financing of a PPP project in Germany.
