Rob is an English qualified Senior Associate and Solicitor-Advocate in our Global Projects Disputes Practice based in London.
He has over 10 years’ experience acting for clients in all forms of dispute resolution with a focus on the defence, energy, construction, engineering and infrastructure sectors. Rob also sits as an arbitral tribunal secretary and is a CEDR Accredited Mediator.
Rob regularly publishes thought leadership pieces, including in the Construction Law Journal on the topic of ‘Time and Delay across cultures’. He has lectured to the Society of Construction Law on disputes arising under the new iChemEBlue Book standard form; and is recognised by the Major Projects Association as a ‘Rising Star’.
During his time at Freshfields Rob has been seconded to the Gerald Group, Barclays, the London Stock Exchange Group and Tower Hamlets Law Centre.
- Acting on behalf of a contractor consortium in ICC arbitration proceedings brought against a project owner in connection with the design and construction of an ammonia and urea plant in Algeria.
- Acting in HKIAC arbitration proceedings for a global commodities trader in connection with a series of contested equity investments made by a Chinese mining conglomerate;
- Acting in ICC arbitration proceedings for a shareholder in the consortium company awarded the contract for the construction of the third set of locks at the Panama Canal;
- Acting in ICC arbitration proceedings for a Caribbean state owned natural gas company in relation to claims brought by downstream gas consumers;
- Acting for a UK rail operator in arbitration proceedings brought under the ADRR rules against a rail infrastructure provider;
- Defending a global art financing company in injunctive proceedings brought to prevent the enforcement of security;
- Advising an oil & gas major on claims relating to front end engineering design and engineering, procurement and construction management activities on one of the largest construction projects in the industry;
- Advising a global oil & gas client on conducting regular supply chain human rights due diligence;
- Acting for EnergySolutions in their successful claim against the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority relating to the contracts to decommission 12 nuclear-licenced sites;
- Advising the Special Managers of the Carillion group companies (in liquidation) in connection with UK construction projects;
- Acting in two London seated arbitrations for a Premier League football team against the Premier League under Section X of the Premier League Rules;
- Acting as a tribunal secretary in a Singapore seated SIAC Rules arbitration in respect of a dispute relating to self-installing and mono-column platforms for use in certain Malaysian oil and gas projects; and
- Acting as a tribunal secretary in a Singapore seated SIAC Rules arbitration in respect of a dispute arising out of an EPC Contract for the construction of a Solar Photovoltaic Plant in Bangladesh.
