Learn more about who we are
Our summer associate program
The Freshfields summer associate program is designed to introduce summer associates to life at the firm. Our summer associates choose Freshfields for the opportunity to work with, learn from and be mentored by best-in-class lawyers in an entrepreneurial, collaborative, and inclusive environment.
Our ten-week program is offered in Boston, New York, Washington, D.C., San Francisco and Silicon Valley.
- In the New York and Silicon Valley offices, summer associates may choose the types of work they want to do. We do not have a formal rotation system, and work is allocated to match assignments with the interests and availability of each summer associate. There is a continual dialogue between the summers and recruiting committee members regarding available assignments and practice group preferences.
- In the Washington, D.C., office, summer associates work either with our Dispute Resolution (DR) team or our Antitrust, Competition, and Trade (ACT) team.
- We very much encourage all candidates to interview in person so that we can show you our office space and introduce you to our unique culture. That said, we understand that scheduling and logistical constraints may mean that an in-person interview is not feasible and we will be pleased to arrange virtual meetings for those candidates.
- During your callback, you will meet with three partners, followed by a meal with associates. We will solicit your practice area interests in advance of your callback and will do our best to match you with lawyers who work in those areas.
