Freshfields advises Veloxis and Asahi Kasei on €780m acquisition of AiCuris
Global law firm Freshfields is advising Veloxis Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a subsidiary of Asahi Kasei Group, on the acquisition of AiCuris Anti-infective Cures AG for approximately €780m.
Headquartered in the US, Veloxis specializes in transplant therapeutics, most notably the commercialization of Envarsus XR (tacrolimus), an immunosuppressant for kidney transplant patients. The transaction, which is subject to customary closing conditions, expands Asahi Kasei‘s specialty pharmaceutical platform further into severe infectious diseases.
AiCuris is a leading pharmaceutical company that focuses on novel drug candidates for the prevention and treatment of severe and potentially life-threatening infectious diseases in immunocompromised patients, as well as on product candidates in clinical development.
The Freshfields team is working closely with the Veloxis inhouse legal team led by Noel Barnard (General Counsel) and Tom Brady (Senior Counsel).
