Intellectual property and information technology
Wolrad specialises in various fields of IP law, in particular in patent law and its intersection to antitrust law. He has substantial experience in patent litigation, in particular in patent litigation with a focus on the IT and the pharma/biotechnology sector. His clients include a number of major international companies in the telecommunication, consumer electronics, pharma and biotechnology industries, which he advises and represents in complex patent litigation.
Wolrad is a faculty member of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) where he teaches European Patent Law. He publishes frequently on intellectual property issues and has given presentations in Europe, Asia and the Americas. Wolrad is a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Intellectual Property Law and Practice (JIPLP).

Career to date
Wolrad received his legal education at the universities of Heidelberg and Munich and the George Washington University Law School. During his LLM studies, Wolrad served as a judicial intern for The Hon Randall R Rader at the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Wolrad has been admitted to the bar in 2003. Following his admittance to the bar until 2009, he worked as research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax law, Munich in the team of Professor Dr. Dres. h.c. Joseph Straus. From 2004 to 2008, he additionally assumed the responsibility of Program Director of the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC), where he was responsible, among others, for the co-ordination, implementation and further development of the LLM IP program.
Wolrad joined the firm in 2009. He was seconded to our London office in 2013/2014.
