Extensive experience in state aid matters.
We have advised both governments and companies on state aid issues across a range of industry sectors.
We represent clients during European Commission investigations, and before the European and national courts. We also advise clients on any potential state aid aspects of proposed investments or divestments.
Following the financial crisis, European state aid rules were quickly changed to deal with the many financial rescues by national governments. We continue to play a leading role in advising financial institutions, central banks and governments on these complex developments, most notably on key mandates that have set new legal precedents in the UK and Germany.
Our direct involvement in the cases, and the experience gained over many years, allows us to provide clients with informed and decisive advice even in the most novel and challenging of cases.
What does the future hold for the European banking sector? Ten years after the financial crisis, we take a look at the challenges that threatened the EU’s entire banking sector and how EU state aid policy has helped to restore financial stability.
