Global M&A – value and volume
For 2020, total deal value was the lowest since 2013 and total deal volume the lowest since 2014.
TMT was the most active sector by value in 2020, accounting for 31 per cent of global deals.
TMT was also the biggest sector by volume, accounting for 27 per cent of all transactions.
The 79 per cent uptick by value from H1 to H2 2020 was the biggest half-year jump on record.
For Q4, total deal value fell slightly from Q3 but was still very healthy at $926.6bn.
TMT was the most active sector by value over Q4, contributing 32 per cent of total deal value.
