Freshfields Digital Roundtable – Investments in Digital Ventures

Freshfields’ Global IP Conference 2015 opened with a roundtable session on investing in digital ventures. Around 100 lawyers from the firm’s global IP practice and selected clients joined to discuss trends and tactics with digital entrepreneurs and venture capital investors.

Verena Pausder, founder and CEO of internationally acclaimed children’s app developer Fox and Sheep, described how the company was built and discussed the shift to the mobile internet.

Florian Heinemann, co-founder and Managing Director of the early-stage venture capital firm Project A Ventures, compared the venture capital ecosystems in Europe and Silicon Valley and presented a typology of investors

Christoph Maire, partner in the early-stage firm Atlantic Internet, talked about the implications of Marc Andreesen’s thesis that software is eating the world and argued for Europe’s innovative force and Berlin as a digital hub.

The roundtable closed with tips and tricks for due diligence on digital business models from Klaus Beucher and Torsten Schreier, both partners in Freshfields’ global IP practice.
