Mark Sansom appointed as London head of dispute resolution

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has appointed partner Mark Sansom as London head of dispute resolution, effective 8 July. Mark will succeed Sarah Parkes who has recently been appointed as global head of the practice.

Mark will lead the London disputes practice alongside his client work and continuing leadership of the firm’s global antitrust litigation group.

Mark is recognised as a top-tier competition litigator with an unsurpassed track record on many of the seminal cases in the UK, across Europe and beyond for clients including ABB, Mastercard, Infineon and the Go-Ahead Group. He has particular experience of defending claims under the UK’s opt-out collective proceedings class action regime.

Commenting on the appointment, Sarah Parkes said: “I am delighted to announce that Mark will assume leadership of the dispute resolution practice in London. Mark has all the qualities to drive forward the success of our practice as a market-leading antitrust litigator advising our global clients on complex, cross-border disputes.”

Mark added: “I look forward to working with London colleagues and leadership on ensuring the strategic growth of the practice, as well as driving forward our continued investment and development of the next generation of diverse talent at Freshfields.”

The change in London leadership for disputes follows Freshfields’ announcing the appointment of Sarah Parkes as global head of dispute resolution. She will succeed Andy Hart who has completed his term and is returning to focus on his practice at the firm.
