Freshfields’ Georgia Dawson recognised for commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusivity for fourth consecutive year

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) senior partner Georgia Dawson has been featured in the OUTstanding Ally Executives Role Model List 2021, supported by Yahoo Finance.

Georgia’s inclusion in the list marks the fourth consecutive year she has been recognised by OUTstanding and celebrated for being a vocal ally, actively working to create an environment where LGBTQ+ colleagues can comfortably bring their best professional selves to work.

For a second year, Georgia is joined by Freshfields’ head of Asia sanctions, Alexander Dmitrenko, who has once again been named as an Outstanding LGBT+ Future Leaders Role Model.

“I’m delighted to be included in this year’s OUTstanding Ally Executives Role Model List, and honoured to be named alongside such an esteemed group of individuals who are all dedicated to driving change,” Georgia Dawson commented. “It concludes another strong year of progress towards creating a truly inclusive workplace at Freshfields, and LGBTQ+ inclusion remains an extremely important priority for the firm as we head into 2022,” she added.

The recognition comes in the year that Georgia was appointed as senior partner at Freshfields. During the first year of her tenure the firm has committed to a number of ambitious diversity and inclusion targets over a five year period, including a global target for LGBTQ+ representation, to help drive progress and accelerate the pace of change at the firm.

During 2021, Freshfields’ LGBTQ+ employee network, Halo, has gone from strength to strength - now representing one of the firm’s largest employee networks with more than 100 members across 20 of its offices. It also marks the first year the firm has voluntarily included data on its sexual orientation pay gap in its UK pay gap report, as part of its wider ongoing commitment to improving diversity and inclusion across all dimensions.

All 2021 Ally Executive Role Models were nominated by peers and colleagues. Nominations were then reviewed by OUTstanding’s eminent panel of judges comprising senior international business leaders.
