Freshfields advises Cinven on its acquisition of a majority stake in Arcaplanet and Maxi Zoo Italia

Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer (‘Freshfields’) has advised international private equity firm Cinven on its agreement to acquire a majority stake in Arcaplanet, a pet care retail chain, from funds advised by Permira and Winch Capital Partners.

Headquartered in Italy, Arcaplanet was founded in 1995 by CEO, Michele Foppiani. Its first store opened in Chiavari, Liguria in 1998 and is now present in 17 regions across Italy.

As part of the transaction, Cinven and Arcaplanet will also jointly acquire Maxi Zoo Italia, the third largest pet care operator in the Italian market, and a subsidiary of Fressnapf Group.

The Freshfields team is being led by partners Luigi Verga, Victoria Sigeti and James Scott, senior associate Mark Brewer and associate Giulio Politi, with anti-trust advice led by partner Gian Luca Zampa and debt financing advice led by partners Chris Davis and Andy Hagan.
