Freshfields partner Günther Horvath nominated as a member of the Supervisory Board of Porsche SE
Dr. Günther Horvath (65), partner at the Vienna office of the global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, has been nominated to join the Supervisory Board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE and is therefore resigning from the firm. Horvath has been a partner at Freshfields for 35 years. The Supervisory Board includes Dr. Wolfgang Porsche (Chairman), Dr. Hans Michel Piëch (Deputy Chairman), Prof. Dr. Ulrich Lehner, Dr. Ferdinand Oliver Porsche and Hans-Peter Porsche.“Günther Horvath has had a strong bond with our firm throughout his entire professional life. Günther Horvath has almost forty years of experience in corporate law and has advised on a large number of significant mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures and corporate structurings. On this basis, he has developed his international arbitration practice as a solicitor and arbitrator, where he is primarily involved in post-M&A, corporate and joint venture disputes.
In addition to his role at Porsche SE, Günther Horvath will continue to work as a lawyer, continuing his arbitration practice as well as his corporate law practice with a focus on family owned businesses. The internationally renowned arbitration expert, who was a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris from 2011 to 2013, is also Chairman Emeritus of Lex Mundi Ltd., Houston, and since May 2017, President of the Vienna International Arbitration Center (VIAC), the International Arbitration Body of the Economic Chamber Austria. Because of his decades of involvement with the firm, the firm expects to cooperate with Günther Horvath on a mandate-related basis following his departure from the partnership.
