About Marie-Theres Urban
Marie-Theres Urban is a Principal Associate in our Berlin office. She advises on all aspects of German and European competition law, with a focus on merger control and compliance, as well as on foreign investment screening issues.
She has particular experience with advising clients on global mergers and joint ventures under European and German antitrust and foreign investment law and also advises clients on behavioural matters including dominance-related issues and distribution strategies.
Marie-Theres has worked on numerous international mandates in a range of industries and sectors, including consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, and private equity. She speaks German and English.

- Advising MSC on a public takeover offer for HHLA as part of a strategic partnership with Hamburg;
- Advising a large chemical company on the merger of Wintershall Dea and Harbour Energy;
- Advising Mindray on the acquisition of a majority interest in DiaSys;
- Advising MicroPort Scientific on its acquisition of Hemovent GmbH;
- Advising AstraZeneca on its $39bn acquisition of Alexion Pharmaceuticals;
- Advising various private equity funds on the acquisition of strategic German companies;
- Advising numerous clients in connection with German and EU competition and foreign investment law.
