About Christine Simpson

Christine is an associate in the Firm’s Dispute Resolution practice. She advises on a wide range of commercial litigation, with a focus on multi-party actions and financial services disputes.

Christine’s practice focuses on complex, high-value, multi-jurisdictional commercial litigation. Christine has particular experience in the defence and co-ordination of complex multi-party litigation, including shareholder claims, litigation following regulatory action and follow-on competition litigation. She has also successfully defended a number of financial institutions in claims brought against them in the Commercial Court.

In addition, Christine has an interest in cybersecurity and data privacy claims, advising clients in relation to litigation and regulatory investigations following data related incidents.  

Prior to joining Freshfields, Christine practised at a leading commercial law firm in Dublin, where her experience included working on multi-jurisdictional litigation arising from the Madoff fraud. Christine has also spent time on secondment to an international bank.

Recent work

  • Advising a large retailer on its response to a cyber incident.
  • Representing an OEM in relation to multi-jurisdictional claims arising from the trucks infringement.
  • Advising a major insurer in a High Court claim under the Contribution Act following mis-selling of insurance products by its agent.
  • Successfully defending a global financial institution in a Commercial Court claim relating to alleged breaches of the Quincecare duty.
  • Achieving a successful strikeout of a claim brought against an international bank relating to enforcement action taken against a customer.
  • Representing a major corporate in a shareholder litigation in the High Court arising out of a profit overstatement.

  • BCL, Law with Economics, Universtiy College Dublin
  • Law Society of Ireland (Professional Practice Course, Award for Civil Advocacy)
  • Solicitor qualified in England and Wales
  • Solicitor qualified in Ireland
