Diogo advises on a broad range of EU and UK competition law issues, including multijurisdictional mergers, behavioural investigations and complex supply and distribution arrangements.
During his time in Brussels and in London, Diogo has advised clients on behavioural antitrust and cartel investigations, on obtaining merger clearances, before the European Commission, UK CMA and other competition authorities in Europe and worldwide, and on a number of state aid matters.
Working across a range of sectors, Diogo has particular experience advising clients in energy and utilities, retail, media and in the digital sector, with a particular focus on the digital platforms space. In addition, Diogo also has experience in other industry sectors including private healthcare, financial services, logistics and aviation.
Diogo was seconded to the Tesco competition team for three months in 2015/2016.
Prior to joining Freshfields, Diogo was a trainee lawyer in a competition and regulation specialist team at a leading independent Portuguese law firm for 3 years. He was also a ‘stagiaire’ at the European Commission’s Legal Service for 5 months.
