About Daniel Metz

Daniel is a member of our Antitrust, Competition and Trade practice group.

He advises on all aspects of European and Austrian competition law, including merger control, cartel investigations and follow-on damages actions. A particular specialisation of his competition law practice is the application of competition law rules in the age of digitalisation and the consideration of sustainability aspects in the context of competition law analysis.

Furthermore, Daniel is an internationally recognised expert for competition law issues in the aviation industry. He publishes and teaches regularly on this subject.

Daniel is fluent in German and English.

  • Advising Lufthansa on merger control aspects in relation to its entry in ITA Airways.
  • Advising Umicore on Austrian merger control aspects in relation to its creation of a joint venture with Volkswagen.
  • Advising One Equity Partners on merger control and foreign direct investment aspects in relation to its acquisition of Muehlhan’s European and US business.
  • Advising various companies in high-profile cartel proceedings before the European Commission and the Austrian Federal Competition Authority.
  • Advising various companies active in the aviation sector on competition law and regulatory issues.
