About Lucia Lucchesi

Lucia specializes in domestic and cross-border litigation and arbitration with a specific experience in antitrust litigation.

Lucia is an associate in our dispute resolution practice and is based in Rome. She specializes in domestic and transnational litigation and arbitration and her experience also covers disputes in the areas of tort liability, shareholder disputes, directors’ and auditors’ liability, intellectual property, telecommunications and broadcasting rights. She is also highly active in antitrust litigation advising and representing companies in follow-on actions resulting from European Commission and Italian Antitrust Authority’s decisions in cartel cases. She has also gained specific experience in assisting companies in their day-to-day business dealing with litigation issues, contracts negotiation and drafting, relationships with suppliers.

Prior to joining Freshfields, Lucia worked in two Italian firms in Turin and Rome leading in commercial litigation and arbitration.

Lucia speaks fluently English and Spanish and has good knowledge of French.

Recent work

Recent highlights:

  • Advising an international chemical company and its Italian subsidiary in relation to an Italian law, post-acquisition international arbitration under ICC Rules against an Italian large energy operator, dealing with transaction indemnities and environmental liability;

  • Advising and representing a leading international truck manufacturer and its Italian subsidiary in several follow-on damage claims for breach of competition law in respect of the truck prices allegedly affected by the anti-competitive conduct, following a Commission decision imposing against truck manufacturers the largest fine ever on cartel cases;

  • Advising and representing a Spanish leading group in the European audiovisual sector against a major media and telecommunications company concerning the award and sub-licensing of the broadcasting rights on the Italian “Serie A” soccer competition in interim proceedings;

  • Advising and representing a German agricultural equipment manufacturer in relation to  proceedings initiated by an Italian fashion company for the alleged breach of a prior rights agreement, the alleged infringement of  trademarks and unfair competition.
