About Dr. Dawid Ligocki

Dawid is an associate at the Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

He specialises in national and international litigation, and represents and advises German and international companies in all areas of business and commercial law with a special focus on data privacy, tech, and insurance litigation (including mass claims). Dawid also specialises in internal, cross-border investigations, and provides comprehensive compliance advice.

In addition to his qualification as a qualified German lawyer, he holds a master’s degree in Polish law as well.

Dawid speaks German, English and Polish.

Recent work

  • Advising and representing a leading fintech company in its defence against out-of-court and in-court claims related to a cross-border cyberattack;
  • Advising and representing a tech client on various aspects of its mass claim defence against large scale GDPR and social media-related claims;
  • Advising and representing a leading global hotel company in its defence against out-of-court and in-court claims related to a cross-border cyberattack;
  • Advising and representing an insurance company against one of the largest mass claims in Germany;
  • Advising a leading bank in its defence against claims following a data security incident;
  • Providing comprehensive investigations and regulatory compliance advice for a multinational manufacturing company from the chemical sector;
  • Providing comprehensive investigations and compliance advice for a multinational accounting firm in connection with the insolvency of a DAX-listed company;
  • Advising a global financial institution and a global pharmaceutical organisation on their current group guidelines on whistleblowing and whistleblower protection in light of the EU Whistleblowing Directive ((EU) 2019/1937) and advising on necessary revisions both at group level and in various jurisdictions across Europe;
  • Advising a car manufacturer in its worldwide defence against customer claims arising from the global recall of vehicles (in particular on issues of private international law).

Qualifications

  • Study of law at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) and at the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan (first state examination and LL.M. in German and Polish Law)
  • Legal traineeship at the Higher Regional Court of Brandenburg
  • PhD at the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder)
  • Admitted to the Bar in Berlin
