Jonathan is a member of Freshfields' Commercial Disputes Group, specialising in litigation in the English courts. Much of Jonathan's work has an international element.
Jonathan has experience of a wide variety of cases in the Country Court, the High Court and the Court of Appeal in England and Wales, including Part 8 claims, judicial review, insolvency proceedings and interlocutory applications including injunctive relief. Jonathan’s in-depth litigation experience is focussed on commercial disputes arising from a number of industries, including private equity, financial institutions, oil and gas, art and pharmaceuticals. Jonathan also has experience of class action proceedings, acting for defendants and interested third parties.
Jonathan also has experience of advising on conflict of laws and jurisdiction, and regularly provides transaction support and advice to Global Transactions colleagues on questions of choice of law, jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments.
During his time at Freshfields, Jonathan has been seconded to the Bank of England and to the Tower Hamlets Law Centre.
Jonathan is proficient in written and spoken French.

Aabar Block Sarl  Bus LR 1243; Global Asset Capital Inc v. Aabar Block Sarl  4 WLR 163 (CA); Aabar Block Sarl v. Maud  EWHC 1414 (Ch); and Edgeworth Capital (Luxembourg) Sarl v. Aabar Investments PJS  EWHC 1627 (Comm).

Advising a technology company on a contractual dispute concerning termiantion of a patent non-assert agreement.

Advising defendants in major group action proceedings in the English High Court, and related proceedings in Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
Advising minority shareholders on an unfair prejudice petition inclduing advising on an urgent interim injunction preventing sale of the business to a third-party.
Advising a third party to proceedings in the English High Court regarding production of their documents and other evidence.
Advising a former director of a financial institution in relation to requests for documents by the FCA and Maxwellisation of a report referring to him.
Regularly acting as an advocate for appellants in the Asylum Support Appeals Tribunal.
Enforcing a ground-breaking employment tribunal award for a pro bono client.
