About Dr. Julia Elser

Julia represents clients in complex commercial and financial disputes with a special focus on post-M&A, banking and insurance litigation. She has gained vast experience in advising clients in mass-claims and on handling strategic challenges of parallel regulatory proceedings. She represents clients before civil courts as well as regulatory authorities. She is also experienced in defending banks against investor claims. She has previously worked with counsel at the German Federal Court of Justice and supported the German inhouse team of a major British bank during a client secondment.

  • Advising banks in litigation proceedings arising in connection with the issuance of hybrid capital instruments.

  • Defending a German bank against claims in connection with the transfer of a portfolio of non-performing loans.
  • Advising a PE fund in a complex post-M&A dispute, representation before state courts and in a DIS arbitration in connection with the acquisition of medical care centers.
  • Representing a PE fund in a claim for damages against the sellers of a group of nursing homes.
  • Acting for an international corporate in a litigation against its former general manager and the D&O insurer.
  • Advising an international corporate on the assertion of claims under various D&O insurance contracts in connection with damage claims resulting from alleged mismanagement by managers in multiple jurisdictions. 
  • Defending an audit firm in professional proceedings and strategic advice on defending against related shareholder claims.
