We are a wide and highly varied international practice. Our people – including our trainees – come from around the globe, with all kinds of different backgrounds, skills and experiences. A significant number of them established other careers before turning to law.
We recruit people from universities all over the world who have studied everything from genetics to theology – many of our leading lawyers studied something other than law as a first degree.
This rich mix of cultural backgrounds, skills and talents is a major strength of the firm. It makes for a more stimulating and interesting environment and means that, no matter what the client's demands, we can invariably field someone with the appropriate knowledge, expertise or understanding.
Varied experiences are important to our people once they start with us too. Apart from the degree of choice in specialisms, we offer a huge number of international and client secondments: one in four of our trainees is on secondment at any time (provided they wish to go, of course – it's an option, not mandatory).
"There’s a sort of institutionally informal culture which supports individuality, yet gets everyone pulling together."
