We accept applications on-line from penultimate year undergraduates between 17 November 2008 and close of business on 16 January 2009. If you are on a four-year course with your third year abroad, you can apply in your second year for a placement after you return. Vacation placements last three weeks, at a salary of £275 per week (net of tax).
Our vacation scheme is designed to give you a real insight into the culture of the firm and the work we do here.
You will spend three weeks in the practice group of your choice, working closely with an associate minder. You are also allocated a partner minder and trainee buddy, to ensure that you are integrated fully into the professional and social life of the firm for the duration of your vacation scheme.
You will undertake a thorough induction programme, plan and execute a group project, go through an individual research task with your partner minder and take part in a one-day mock transaction. Social events include a day trip to one of our European offices.
Applications should be made on our online application form, a link to which can be found on the Apply page. Once you have submitted your form you will be sent an email asking you to take an online verbal reasoning test. You will be given full instructions and the chance to take a practice test before you take the real thing. You will have seven days from the date you submitted your form to take the test. If you do not complete the test within seven days we will assume that you do not wish to continue with your application and your application will be withdrawn automatically.
If you wish to find out more about the verbal reasoning test (which is provided by SHL Group Limited) and would like to do some practice tests before applying, please go to SHL Direct. If you have a disability which might make taking the test difficult, please contact Leyla Fuad on 020 7785 5553 for advice.
If we offer you an interview, we will ask you to get in touch in order to arrange a convenient time. Interviews are held in our London offices. There are two interviews preceded by a written exercise (for which no legal knowledge is required). After the interview you will be met by one of our trainees who will give you a tour of the offices. The selection procedure will last approximately four hours. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.

"...the Vacation Scheme, the Simulated Office and the Induction programme have all been helpful: informative, thorough and eye-opening. Fun too."
