Kai Hasselbach acts for major corporate clients and private equity sponsors on M&A (public and private) and restructuring transactions. He advises on corporate governance, shareholder and management issues, as well as on related shareholder litigation. His practice has a particular focus on transactions involving listed companies, and financial institutions/companies in regulated industries.
Some of Kai Hasselbach’s areas of focus are outbound investments in Australia, South Africa and other non-European growth markets.
In addition to his client work, he is the author of a number of publications about corporate law and M&A. He co-authored the well-known Großkommentar zum Aktiengesetz (Commentary on the German Stock Corporation Act) and Kölner Kommentar zum WpüG, a highly-regarded commentary on the German Securities Acquisition and Takeover Act (WpÜG), as well as the recently published Beck’sches Holding Handbuch (Commentary on the law of holding companies and corporate groups).

Career to date
Kai Hasselbach studied at the University of Cologne and the Université de Lausanne. Between 1993 and 1997, he was research assistant at Friedrich-Schiller-Universität in Jena, and also completed his doctorate in law (Dr iur).
