Christian brings more than 20 years’ experience to a range of areas of banking and finance law. He specialises in general corporate as well as acquisition, real estate and project finance. He is also expert in private M&A and joint ventures, in particular privatisations and private equity related matters.
Well known and connected in the Frankfurt financial community, Christian has clients across a range of sectors. They include mostly financial institutions but also companies in the automotive, energy, natural resources, transport and infrastructure sectors. They appreciate his experienced, personable approach, and know they have a lawyer with a strong commercial background who understands their needs.

Career to date
Christian joined Freshfields predecessor firm Westrick & Eckholdt in Frankfurt in 1987. In the early 1990s, he worked as in the firm's Tokyo office for five years. Prior to joining the firm, he worked as a associate lawyer with a firm in Tokyo, where he specialised in securities law, and with Paul Weiss in New York. Christian became a partner in 1990.
