Nigel Blackaby is a partner and member of our public international law group and international arbitration group. He acts as counsel and arbitrator in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations, including the rules of the ICC, LCIA, AAA, ICSID, the Stockholm Chamber and the Zurich Chamber.

Nigel focuses on Latin American disputes (he has represented parties in arbitrations involving Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela) and investor-state arbitration under investment treaties (where he has acted for and against states in eastern Europe and Latin America).

Nigel is an editor of Arbitration International, co-founder of the Young International Arbitration Group and a member of the executive of the LCIA Latin America Users' Committee.

Nigel speaks English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and has law degrees from the University of Exeter (UK) and Aix-Marseille III (France).
