Our international trade law practice is part of our wider EU practice, offering clients specialist advice on their international trading relations. In particular, we focus on bilateral trade relations between the EU and its major trade partners and on multilateral trade relations.

We advise international corporations on trade-related aspects of their import/export transactions as well as on structuring investment and trade relationships from a trade-efficient perspective. Our lawyers also represent governments and trade associations in their dealings not only with EU institutions and member states, but also with third-country governments. We also represent our clients in litigation on trade law issues in the EU courts in Luxembourg as well as in EU member state courts.

With expertise in all areas of EU trade law (including trade remedies, trade negotiations, customs and export control) and on World Trade Organisation (WTO) matters, our international trade team is based in Brussels and Berlin and co-operates closely with all offices across our European network as well as our offices in Asia, the Middle East and the US. The team is further strengthened by Dr Horst Krenzler, Of Counsel, former Director-General of the European Commission’s Directorate-General responsible for External Relations, who has extensive experience in trade negotiations and considerable knowledge of the internal workings of the European Commission. Dr Krenzler is also Governor of the Board of the Asia/EU Foundation (ASEF).
