David is a partner in our Corporate practice, based in London. His practice focuses primarily on private M&A and joint ventures, mostly with an international flavour.
David’s projects have included advising:
- Vaillant Group on its acquisition from Koç Group of a majority stake in Demirdöküm, the Turkish heating manufacturer, and on its disposal of the Hepworth Building Products business to Wavin;
- National Bank of Greece on its acquisitions of Finansbank in Turkey and Vojvodjanska Banka in Serbia and various other projects in Central and Eastern Europe;
- a significant, privately owned Bulgarian company on proposed investments by overseas financial investors and related shareholders’ arrangements;
- E.ON on proposed asset swap arrangements relating to Russia and various other jurisdictions;
- a leading international financial institution on separate structured investments in Turkish companies in the infrastructure and construction sectors;
- Vinnolit on its acquisition of INEOS’ European E-PVC business, including the raw material supply and related offtake arrangements;
- SIRVA on the sales of its Continental European moving services business, its transportation network for high value products in Europe and its UK records management and crate hire businesses;
- PartyGaming on its acquisition of the Gamebookers internet sports betting business;
- the Russian majority shareholders in Balkan Star on the sale to Altadis;
- Ruhrgas and Gaz de France on the shareholders arrangements and other matters relating to Slovensky Plynarensky Priemysel, the Slovak gas distribution business, in which they acquired a 49 per cent interest through a privatisation process;
- ICI on various major international disposals, including each stage of its disposal of the Polyurethanes, Tioxide and certain petrochemical businesses to Huntsman; and
- LVMH on a series of joint venture and other transactions relating to the Phillips auction business.
David is also co-head of the firm’s Chemicals Sector Group and worked in the ICI legal department from 1995-97.
David read law at Christ’s College, Cambridge and joined the firm in 1990. He re-joined the firm in 1997 after his spell with ICI and became a partner in May 2000.
