‘Caroline Stroud is a superb litigator, who is described by sources as “personable and easy to deal with”’
Chambers UK 2011
Caroline is co-head of our London employment team.
Her specialist areas:
Global investigations
Team moves and protecting confidential information
Cross-border transactions
Highly regulated industries
Discrimination, bullying, harassment
Whistleblowing
Mediation
Caroline is known for successfully defending employers in big-ticket employment disputes when the company’s reputation is at stake as well as large sums of money. Her clients have businesses across the US, Europe and Asia.
She works closely with dispute resolution colleagues advising clients who find themselves the subject of a global investigation by the regulators, or who need to run their own investigation following an employee's misconduct. Her skill lies in advising how best to deal with employee issues with the regulators and manage the investigation, irrespective of the number of jurisdictions involved.
She helps PLCs, financial institutions and professional services firms hire and fire senior executives, make board appointments, re-organise themselves, buy new businesses, and open and close operations across the world.
In the UK she defends clients in the High Court and the Court of Appeal, as well as in employment tribunals and the employment appeal tribunal. As a Solicitor-Advocate she has civil rights of audience. She is also an accredited Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution mediator and frequently supports clients in employment-related mediations.
Her litigation experience means that she understands why and how things go wrong. So she is ideally suited to help clients put in place the policies, contracts and terms that enable them to attract the best, avoid disputes and protect talent.
For three years she was responsible for our global HR strategy. This view of life from the client side is a great comfort to clients, especially professional services firms. She understands the realities of implementing a global strategy: the processes that work and the documentation needed to support a global HR initiative.
Caroline joined the firm in 2001 and became a Partner in 2005.
In 2011, Opportunity Now, an organisation that supports gender diversity in business, presented her with the Directing Diverse Talent award.
