Yaraslau "Yarik" Kryvoi focuses his practice on investor-state and commercial arbitration, particularly on disputes involving Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Prior to joining Freshfields, Dr Kryvoi worked for a major international law firm in Washington, DC. He also served as an extern law clerk for Judge Stephen F. Williams of the US Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit, where he focused on cases involving foreign sovereigns and application of international law in domestic proceedings. In 2003-2005, he was a lecturer at the Belarusian State University. During the same period, he also served as a counsel at the Economic Court of the Commonwealth of Independent States in Minsk, Belarus.
Dr Kryvoi has law degrees from Harvard Law School, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. He also studied law in Oxford and Nottingham in England. He is a corresponding editor of International Legal Materials (ILM) and a member of International Advisory Board of International Encyclopaedia of Laws published by Kluwer Law International.
