Tim Jones is chair of the London management group focusing primarily on clients and people in London, and on ensuring the continued alignment of the office’s strategy with that of the global practice and sector groups. He is also co-head of the international securities group. Tim specialises in equity capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, and other corporate work. He has particular experience in the telecoms and media, energy, transport, aerospace and engineering sectors. Between 1994 and 2000 he was based in Madrid. Tim's previous leadership position includes acting as managing partner of the London corporate department.
His transactions include the IPOs of PartyGaming, 888.com and Hikma Pharmaceuticals, and acting for the underwriters on the £12bn rights issues for The Royal Bank of Scotland, the largest rights issue for a UK corporate. He is the corporate partner responsible for BNFL and has been involved in a number of international joint ventures for that client. He advised London 2012 on the joint venture agreement to establish the London Organising Committee for the Olympic Games.
Whilst in Madrid he worked on a number of high profile public and private cross-border M&A transactions including the privatisations of Aldeasa, Aceralia, Tabacalera, Indra and Red Eléctrica. He also acted on various private sector IPOs in Spain, including Amadeus, Sogecable, Páginas Amarillas, Colonial and Azkar.
He is country partner for Greece and has worked on a number of privatisations and other deals there. He speaks English, French and Spanish and was educated at Wadham College, Oxford. Born in 1957, he has been a partner since 1990.
