Experience

Günther J Horvath has been a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 1982 and works in the Vienna office. He is a member of our dispute resolution and corporate practice groups and specialises in industrial engineering, construction, joint ventures and industrial property matters, as well as in advising family-owned businesses. He regularly serves as chairman or party-appointed arbitrator in arbitrations administered by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) and the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) and in ad hoc proceedings.

Günther was born in Salzburg, Austria in 1952. He received his legal education at the University of Graz, Austria, where he earned a Doctor of Laws (Dr iur) degree, and at New York University (MCJ), US. He is coauthor of books, articles and publications on arbitration and corporate law, including Juristische Schlüsselfragen bei Allianzverträgen, Der Softwarevertrag and the corporate law section of Austrian Business Law. Günther has served as a Council Member of the International Bar Association’s Legal Practice Division, and Chairman Emeritus of Lex Mundi Ltd., Houston, US, and is a member of the Austrian Bar.

Günther joined the firm in 1978 and speaks German and English.
