Experience

Harry Schmidt has been a partner of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer since 1991 and works in the Berlin office. He is a member of our corporate practice group and specialises in partnership law, limited liability company law, stock corporation law, group company law, mergers and acquisitions, privatisations, restructuring, initial public offerings, law of agency and distribution and commercial law. Furthermore, he has long-standing experience in litigation, particularly in corporate disputes and plant construction.

Harry was born in Sehnde, Germany, in 1952. He studied law at the University of Heidelberg, Germany, where he earned a Doctor of Laws (Dr iur) degree. He worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Commercial and Economic Law of Heidelberg University before he joined our Düsseldorf office in 1987. In 1994, he moved to our Leipzig office, before relocating to Berlin in 2001. Harry teaches as an honorary professor at Leipzig University and is an author or coauthor of several books and articles on company and commercial law.

Harry joined the firm in 1987 and speaks German and English.
