Experience

Burkhard Bastuck has been a partner since 1988 and works in our Cologne office. He is a member of our corporate practice group and specialises in mergers & acquisitions, corporate law, joint ventures, privatisations, and general commercial law.

Burkhard was born in Friedrichsthal/Saar in 1953. He completed his legal education at the University of Saarbrücken, the Université de Lausanne (Switzerland), and the University of Bonn, from which he holds a doctor of laws degree (Dr iur). He also holds a LLM degree from the University of Pennsylvania and is admitted to the German and New York bars. He has published numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer on topics in the areas of M&A and corporate law.

Burkhard is consistently featured as one of Germany’s leading M&A lawyers. Chambers Global, The World's Leading Lawyers, 2008 edition said about him "..., Burkhard Bastuck enjoys a good reputation among competitors for his 'calm approach and reliable performance.'...". He is also mentioned as a recommended M&A lawyer in the JUVE Handbook 2007/2008 and in Chambers Europe, Europe's Leading Lawyers for Business, 2008.

Burkhard joined the firm in 1984. He speaks German, English and French.
