Our financial institutions group (FIG) draws together - from all our disciplines - experts who have the experience and industry knowledge to help our clients achieve their business objectives. We are able to provide our clients with integrated and established multi-jurisdictional teams who have the precise blend of transactional, regulatory and advisory expertise for the job in hand.
As a result, we have worked on many of the largest and most groundbreaking projects in the financial institutions sector, such as advising:
- UniCredito on its acquisition of HVB Group (Cross-border deal of the year - Acquisitions Monthly Awards 2006 and M&A deal of the year - International Financial Law Review European Awards 2006);
- on the listing of a private equity fund, KKR Private Equity Investors (Guernsey), by KKR, which raised US$5 billion in funds and was the first IPO of its kind (Equity deal of the year - International Financial Law Review European Awards 2007); and
- on the Hong Kong IPO and global offering of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) (Deal of the Year; Best equity deal; Best IPO; Best Privatisation - Finance Asia Awards 2007).
With some 280 lawyers, including 180 partners, our FIG practice is recognised as a market leader in many counties - we are ranked first in Mergermarket’s European and fourth in Bloomberg’s global 2006 financial services M&A league tables by value.
Within FIG, we focus on:
- banks;
- insurers;
- asset managers & investment funds; and
- stock exchanges, trading platforms & institutional services.
In addition, we have dedicated teams dealing with financial services non-contentious regulatory and contentious regulatory matters and capital markets transactions.
