Community investment
Social inclusion is the theme that drives our community investment (CI) programme. We want to raise the aspirations, skills and employability of socially excluded groups and individuals.
We encourage young people from less privileged backgrounds to aim high when it comes to their academic results, further education options and career choices.
We also support other vulnerable groups to get back on their feet and into work.
Our long-standing Ready for Work programme equips homeless people, or those at risk of homelessness, with the skills to break the cycle, gain employment and live independently. We also have strong partnerships with Haggerston Secondary School and Redlands Primary School.
We know the legal profession can be seen as elitist and out of reach, so we actively challenge stereotypes and encourage more people to consider a career in law. We also try to show that there is more to a law firm than the lawyers; that there are many other rewarding career options for ambitious people.
We encourage everyone at the firm to contribute at least one business day of volunteering a year on a community team challenge run by the firm. Aside from the positive impact on local communities, volunteering is a great way to make friends and have fun while doing something worthwhile. It is also an excellent opportunity for participants to develop their skills and experience.
In some offices we support those wishing to fundraise or donate to specific charities through our matched giving and payroll giving schemes.
