  • An unforgettable summer

Nine years. 400 lawyers. Three world-class athletes. 34,500 medals. A whole lot of teamwork.

There isn’t an element of the preparation and staging of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games that didn’t have some legal aspect. It's not just the obvious things like building stadia or rules on anti-doping. From intellectual property rights in the Olympic Torch Relay to contracts for the flowers and visa clearance for athletes, there’s a vast network of legal arrangements that underpinned the whole amazing endeavour.

The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games have been an opportunity for us all to connect in a global celebration of achievement and inspiration.

Our selection as legal services provider to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games demonstrates our ability to deliver long-term, large scale, multi-stakeholder projects working hand-in-hand with our clients, we have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity of a lifetime.

We are proud to have supported the delivery of such a successful Games. But what comes next? In 2005, the then Secretary of State Jack Straw told parliament the Olympic and Paralympic vision was for a ‘Games that would be a force for regeneration, transforming one of the poorest and most deprived areas of London’.

Commercially, London 2012 has shown the world how the UK’s public and private sectors can work together to deliver a massive project smoothly and on time. The Games provided a fantastic shop window – and we must use this success to secure investment, jobs and opportunities for the nation.

We enjoyed the show, now the real work begins…

  • “We love a challenge, and they don't come much bigger than staging the Olympic and Paralympic Games. When we were asked, back in 2003, to help with the bid to host the Games in London, we couldn't resist.”
