Qatar
Through much of our 30 year history in the Middle East we have been advising on transactions in relation to Qatar. It is one of the fastest growing economies worldwide with investments in the hydrocarbon-related manufacturing industry, in first-class infrastructure projects, social infrastructure and financial services being the main drivers of growth.
We are a truly international law firm and our work in Qatar has covered several dimensions. This is based not only our ability to deploy first-class client resource quickly and effectively from our other Middle East and international offices, but also because of our understanding of Qatar’s commercial, legislative and regulatory frameworks.
We have a steadfast commitment to working side by side with our Qatari clients to successfully achieve their objectives.
We have acted for a number of Qatari entities on their international outbound cross-border transactions (by way of acquisition or joint ventures) to support Qatar’s strategic investments and economic diversification, including:
- Qatar Holding LLC’s €2.1bn investment in Spanish utility company Iberdrola;
- Qatar’s domestic strategic projects such as the Qatar-Bahrain Causeway Foundation USDmulti-billion road link;
- the merger of Qatar Shipping Company Q.S.C and Qatar Navigation Q.S.C., and;
- advising The Supreme Committee for Qatar 2022 on its appointment of a programme management consultant responsible for working alongside the Committee in delivering the stadia and related infrastructure for the 2022 FIFA World Cup™ Qatar.
