International law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed Munich-based corporate partner Barbara Keil as the co-head of the firm’s General Industries Group (GIG). Barbara succeeds Henning Oesterhaus and takes up the position alongside London-based dispute resolution partner Paul Lomas.
Barbara’s appointment begins immediately and is for a fixed term of four years.
Barbara has been a partner at Freshfields since 2001, working in the corporate practice group. She has frequently led multi-jurisdictional transactions and joint ventures with a global reach, as well as complex reorganisations for companies in the general industries sector. Her clients include large conglomerates such as Siemens, as well as international chemical and manufacturing clients. Barbara also acted as office managing partner of the Munich office from 2004 to 2010.
Will Lawes, Senior Partner at Freshfields commented, ‘We are very pleased that Barbara has agreed to co-lead the work of our General Industries Group alongside Paul Lomas. GIG comprises a broad range of sectors, with specialist teams assisting clients in areas including automotive, chemicals and conglomerates. It is one of the largest and most diverse sector groups at Freshfields and it will greatly benefit from the first-class combined experience and professionalism of both Barbara and Paul’.
