Pro bono
Our programme focuses on two themes: the rule of law and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Our work to further the rule of law reflects our skills and responsibilities as lawyers. We promote human rights and provide access to justice for those who otherwise would not have it.
The UN established the MDGs in 2000 to help developing countries tackle issues such as poverty, child mortality, disease and the environment. These are issues that affect us all as global citizens.
Our pro bono clients range from destitute individual asylum seekers to some of the world’s largest NGOs.
We continue to advise Save the Children International on its global restructuring. This work is streamlining the way the charity operates worldwide, unlocking huge benefits for children as it becomes more effective and more aligned.
In 2011, we were jointly awarded Pro Bono Team of the Year in the Lawyer Awards for our work on asylum support appeals. We represent individual asylum seekers in tribunal hearings, helping them to defend their limited rights to support in the UK.
Frankfurt Partner Dietmar Knopp has been selected to receive PILnet’s 2011 European Award for Extraordinary Contribution to the Development of Pro Bono Culture. The award recognises the instrumental role Dietmar has played in mobilising legal professionals to establish and expand pro bono practice in Germany.
