Pro bono
Our programme focuses on two themes: the rule of law and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Our work to further the rule of law reflects our skills and responsibilities as lawyers. We promote human rights and provide access to justice for those who otherwise would not have it.
The UN established the MDGs in 2000 to help developing countries tackle issues such as poverty, child mortality, disease and the environment. These are issues that affect us all as global citizens.
Our pro bono clients range from destitute individual asylum seekers to some of the world’s largest international NGOs.
Our lawyers in China have supported individual refugees at the Hong Kong Refugee Advice Centre in their hearings before the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). We represented two Sri Lankan clients who had fled Sri Lanka; their hearing was successful and the family was granted refugee status.
