Pensions

Pensions is the area of law dealing with setting up, operating and winding-up pension schemes.

Over the past two decades, pensions has evolved into a highly regulated and technical area.

Frequent legislative and regulatory changes can often create demand for new areas of advice. In the UK we saw this happen with the arrival of the Pensions Protection Fund in 2004, and we’ll undoubtedly experience it again thanks to the Finance Act 2011 and the Pensions Act 2011, particularly when it comes to the taxation of high earners.

Our lawyers are adept in all the legal aspects of establishing and operating pension schemes; legal issues on pension scheme funding and the impact of corporate transactions, restructuring pension arrangements, merging and winding-up schemes; and pension scheme disputes, including court proceedings.
