"Before joining Freshfields, I knew they were a big international firm, so it was all very exciting. My friend at university referred me to the company. I sent in my CV and had a phone interview and took online tests in analytical and verbal skills. I then had the opportunity to interview in person. I soon realised the firm sets high standards in English, as it's the language we conduct our business in.
At Freshfields there's a great firmwide knowledge system that's invaluable for drafting legal documents, and the firm is always considering your personal development. You feel that the partners and associates really care about your future and improving your skills. From basic computer training to drafting skills and English, most of our learning is conducted through seminars with invited professors and professionals.
I work with many prestigious international clients, financial institutions, and law firms. With this comes an international dimension. I collaborate closely with people the world over, working together on such projects as global acquisitions and subsidiary reviews. For Chinese people, it's a wonderful opportunity to connect with people across the globe.
The social life is superb too. My diary is always full with forthcoming events and activities at Freshfields. Whether I'm playing in our football team or attending the annual conference, our social events provide the perfect opportunity to get to know my colleagues and forge new relationships.
For the future, my biggest goal is to travel abroad and take the bar exam in the US, and I know Freshfields will be supportive."
